SKODA has detailed new features of its SKODA Superb, including assistance systems to offer improved safety and comfort.
SKODA Superb, which incorporates Volkswagen's MQB technology, features assistance systems, including blind spot detect (BSD), rear traffic alert function, traffic jam assist, emergency assist, and dynamic chassis control (DCC).
Other features include multi-collision brake, front assist with integrated city emergency brake, adaptive cruise control, crew protect assist, lane assist, speedlimiter, traffic sign recognition, auto hold function, driver alert, electronic tyre pressure monitor, park assist, surround parking sensors and option for a rear-view camera.
With the BSD, driver will be alerted of any vehicles in the blind spot by showing an LED symbol in the wing mirror to draw attention to vehicles next to the car or approaching from behind.
The rear traffic alert function recognises vehicles approaching from the sides, while reversing out of parking bays. Traffic jam assist facilitates self-activating braking and acceleration while keeping the vehicle in its lane.
Emergency assist intervenes if the driver is unable to manage driving. Smart light assist detects oncoming traffic and vehicles through a camera and automatically dips the high beam. DCC allows to adjust the vehicle's driving characteristics as per individual preferences.
Multi-collision brake is designed to prevent uncontrolled movement of the vehicle after an initial collision, while front assist with integrated city emergency brake warns of a collision and activates automatic partial braking.
Crew protect assist system prepares the driver and front passenger in advance of a collision. Lane assist helps the vehicle stay in lane, traffic sign recognition notifies the driver of traffic signs.
Auto hold function prevents the vehicle from rolling away when stationary or when pulling away.
Park assist feature semi-automatically guides the car backwards and forwards into parallel parking spaces, while surround parking sensors determine the distance of the vehicle from any objects.
The rear-view camera is activated when reverse gear is used, and the image is shown on the infotainment system display.
