High street confectioner Thorntons expects profit before tax for the 52 weeks to June 29 2013 to be ahead of the current market expectation of 3.1M.
Thorntons reported 'satisfactory' trading over Easter
It attributed the rise to “satisfactory” trading over Easter, Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
But Thorntons’ board said it remained “cautious of the prevailing economy and its continuing impact on consumer expenditure”.
Interim management statement
The firm said it would provide more details of recent trading in its interim management statement, due to be released on Wednesday April 24.
In February, revealed plans to close a further 40 stores, as it continued to focus “significant growth” in multiple channels via supermarkets and Thorntons Direct online.
