Nanya Technology and Inotera Memories Saw Their Revenue Rise for The Second Month

Taipei,Dec.7,2012(CENS)--Nanya Technology Corp.and Inotera Memories Inc.saw their revenue rise for the second month in November, but PowerChip Semiconductor Corp.(PSC)failed to stop its revenue from further declining in the meantime.

After seeing its revenue fall under the NT$2 billion(US$68 million at US$1:NT$29)level in September,Nanya witnessed its monthly revenue surge to NT$2.67 billion(US$92 million)in November, increasing 19%from a month earlier and 10%year on year.

In the Jan.-Nov.period of this year, the company had total revenue of NT$30.3 billion(US$1.04 billion),decreasing 12.6%from the same period of last year.

The company ascribed the growth of its November revenue mostly to a 24%month-over-month increase in shipments. But the growth momentum was partly offset by a 3.4%decrease in average selling prices of the memory chips and a 0.4%loss in foreign exchange.

Niche memory chips for consumer electronics such as TVs,set-top boxes,DVD players, and automobiles increased to account for 30%of the company's total shipment volume in November. In the meantime, commodity memory chips again surged to over 50%of the company's total shipment due to increased demands from computer heavyweights.

Industry executives estimated Nanya's revenue for December would slip due to year-end downtime for inventory checking.

Inotera had revenue of NT$2.97 billion(US$102.4 million)in November, inching up 0.4%from a month earlier and rising 2.4%year on year.In the Jan.-Nov.period,the company had total revenue of NT$32.1 billion(US$1.1 billion),sinking around 7.2%from the same period of last year.

PSC's November revenue hit an eight-month low of NT$2.1 billion(US$74 million),slipping 14%from October. The company attributed the recession mostly to a 50%month-on-month decrease in commodity memory shipments.

The company's executives pointed out that PSC is scaling down production of the money-losing commodity memory to set aside resource for its foundry operation, which has received contracts that will keep it busy until the first quarter of 2013.
