Michelin has launched Defender LTX M/S with EverTread compound for light trucks, SUVs and crossovers with a view to providing more durable tread life.
With the EverTread tread compound stated to offer an enhanced gravel wear and fuel efficiency, the all-weather traction assures meeting the higher-torque demands of modern vehicles.
It has been observed that most of the light and heavy duty trucks generate twice as much torque as they displayed 20 years ago and some of them equivalent to three times more. The company assures that the new range of tires lasts 10% longer in severe conditions.
Michelin North America's passenger and light-truck tire division chief operating officer COO Scott Clark said: "The Michelin Defender LTX M/S was created to better address the size and power needs of today's trucks and SUVs, giving drivers what they want -- a combination of durability and longevity year-round -- without sacrificing safety and performance
"As vehicles evolve, we must develop tires that match their powertrain performance, resulting in a tire that is stronger and lasts longer, even in tough conditions."
Available in 71 sizes between 15-inch and 22-inch rim diameters, around 45 fitments are available this year, while another 26 will be introduced in 2016.
Michelin also makes tires for airplanes, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment and motorcycles, backed by its 20 manufacturing units.
