Although Shuanghui International and Smithfield Foods (SFD) cannot wait to release a joint acquisition announcement, the two parties have to face joint lawsuits by lawyers from China and the US due to the estimate was accused to be too low, in addition to the most worried review from the US regulator.
On May 30, the lawyers of China and the US questioned the estimate of the acquisition and intended to initiate a lawsuit to call the regulators to investigate this transaction. As of yesterday afternoon, at least nine law firms have wanted to motivate SFD's shareholders to trigger an investigation against the acquisition.
