Construction and mining equipment manufacturer, Caterpillar has opened a new powertrain manufacturing facility as well as expanded its existing component facility in Wuxi, China.
The new 23,000sqm powertrain plant will produce axles, transmissions and final drives for the company's earthmoving and mining machinery.
The 17,000sqm expansion to the existing facility will see production of hydraulic cylinders for Caterpillar machines.
Both the plants are part of company's Advanced Components & Systems Division that designs and produces components for the company's machines and customers worldwide.
Caterpillar group president Ed Rapp said, "This expansion of our component capability and capacity in China supports our drive to bring this value to our customers in China."
The new facility has totaled the manufacturer's facilities in China to 24, which include four research & development (R&D) centers with three logistics and parts centers.
