Audi Hungaria, an arm of German automaker Audi, has commenced the production of its new Audi A3 Cabriolet in Gyr, Hungary on 17 October 2013.
The new A3 Cabriolet will feature lightweight construction, latest engine technology, versatile networking and highly effective assistance systems.
The A3 Cabriolet rolled off the assembly line at the new production plant of Audi Hungaria Motor along with the A3 Sedan.
Besides these vehicles, the company also manufactures the next generation of the Audi TT Coupe and TT Roadster at the plant.
To date, the company has invested more than €900m in buildings and equipment at this site.
Audi production board of management member Frank Dreves said: "Production of the new A3 Cabriolet is another step in expanding our production capacities in Gyor to 125,000 automobiles each year."
The company will roll out the new Audi A3 Cabriolet in the European market next spring, but advance sales of the model have started in Germany on 17 October 2013.
According to the company, the dynamic compact car has all the strengths of the A3 model series such as low weight, powerful and highly efficient engines, as well as numerous high-end infotainment and driver-assistance packages.
Between 2007 and 2013, Audi Hungaria built a total of approximately 63,000 units of the predecessor model in Gyor in conjunction with the Ingolstadt plant.
