CULVER CITY, Calif. — Powell's Rug Division added three new area rug collections to its Bombay Heritage assortment at the recent Las Vegas Market.

Powell Adds Three Rug Collections to Bombay Heritage Line

Powell’s new Bombay Heritage Luxe Shag line offers seven microfiber shag rugs in distinctive colors.  Bombay Heritage Le Soleil is a new line of indoor/outdoor rugs from Powell.

The company also showed its full line of 200-plus styles of area rugs for the first time in Las Vegas, and introduced a 2013 rug catalog that includes all rugs that are in stock and ready to ship immediately.

"With the success of the Bombay launch at the October High Point Market, which featured eclectic, transitional and classic designs of hand-tufted rugs from India and modified acrylic hand-tufted cut loop pile designs made in China, we've expanded our offerings to encompass the complete Bombay lifestyle," said Jim Ziozis, Powell CEO.

Wil Hollands, president of Hermes-Otto International, which owns the Bombay brand, added, "Because of the tremendous show demand in High Point, I believe these three new collections offer that unique and loved style that only Bombay can deliver."

The new Bombay Heritage collections are:

Bombay Heritage Luxe Shag, an assortment of thick microfiber pile shag rug in seven distinctive colors. Multiple rich, warm and space-dyed tones of a color are spun together into a fingerlike pile. The Luxe Shag has a soft silky hand yet is durable, does not crush and always bounces back to its original look, according to the company. Target retail for the line, which is hand-tufted in China, is $379 in a 5 by 7.

Bombay Heritage Le Soleil, an indoor/outdoor collection named for the French word for "sun." The rugs are UV-protected for over 300 hours of direct sunlight and are stain and water-resistant. The Le Soleil line has a thick, high-low loop and is hand-tufted in China of polypropylene, with polypropylene latex packing. The 15 new rugs here are contemporary and transitional looks by the Bombay Design Team. Target retail is $299 in a 5 by 7.

Bombay Heritage Tapis Collection which the company says is in a new construction, woven and hand-made in India. The name is from the French word for "tapestry." With flat weave rugs becoming more popular, the design team created intricate transitional and traditional designs using space-dyed chenille yarns. Unlike flat weaves, these rugs have a bit of texture, allowing the space dyed yarns to add to their beauty, according to Powell. The rugs have a latex primary packing with a soft cotton backing finish, allowing them to lay flat on the floor without an underlay pad. The collection is durable, doesn't shed and is easy to maintain, the company said. Target retail is $249 in a 5 by 7.
