Department of Veterans Affairs has granted approval to Breathe Technologies' Non-Invasive Open Ventilation (NIOV) system, designed to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
FDA-cleared NIOV system, which will be added to the Federal Supply Schedule, features open-airway platform and is designed to facilitate ambulation for adult patients with moderate to severe respiratory insufficiency.
Breathe said to expand the commercialization of the NIOV system, it has collaborated with Jordan Reses Supply company, a specialty respiratory distributor into the VA.
Jordan Reses president Steve Baugh the company is impressed with the clinical benefits the NIOV system has been able to demonstrate for patients in the home and hospital settings.
"This is a revolutionary technology that is enabling patients mobility who otherwise would be limited in their activities of daily living," Baugh added.
