Mitsubishi Electric has joined the ranks of Google, BMW and Daimler with the introduction of EMIRAI3 xAUTO automated concept car which is set to make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015.
The company has used full suite of Mitsubishi Electric technologies for safe, accurate next-generation automated driving.
Mitsubishi has used 'Perimeter Sensing' which uses artificial-intelligence monitoring of the vehicle's perimeter designed to ensure that the vehicle responses appropriately to road and traffic conditions.
The Artificial-intelligence technology also identifies invisible, immobile risks by analyzing information about potentially dangerous road conditions from the internet.
Mitsubishi has also used road-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-vehicle communication systems to gather out-of-vehicle information.
The EMIRAI3 xAUTO will also feature technologies that will facilitate automated parking, autonomous emergency braking system in darkness and lane keeping control system.
The car will feature high-grade sensor-fusion of millimeter-wave radar and camera system will accurately detect moving and inanimate objects at long distances, even in dark.
Mitsubishi is one of the companies that have ventured into automated driving as major players of the auto industry including Volvo, Daimler and BMW have introduced the technology.
Even electric car maker Tesla updated its software which will enable the cars to have an "autopilot" mode.
However, Tesla said that the autonomous vehicle is still a few years away.
