Tesla’s Model X SUV is expected to be launched in the summer of 2015, Ellon Musk told reporters at the Automotive News World Congress.
The seven seater electric car is designed to provide space and functionality of an SUV and it will be offered in 60 kWh, 85 kWh, and 85 kWh performance options.
The car is also expected to come with Dual Motor All Wheel Drive option along with Falcon Wing Doors which can fold up to allow easy access to third row seat.
Fortune cited Musk saying that the lower-priced, higher-volume Model 3 is expected to be launched in 2017.
Tesla has set a goal to sell 500,000 vehicles annually by 2020, and Model 3 is expected to play an important role in achieving the target.
Tesla also highlighted the issue of poor performance in the Chinese market during the fourth quarter last year, which the company blames on misconception of the customers regarding charging of the electric car, reported Reuters.
