AK Steel Has Received OHSAS 18001:2007 Certification

AK Steel said that its Coshocton Works has received Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series 18001:2007 certification from SRI Quality System Registrar, an internationally accredited registrar for management system standards. The certification applies to all applicable processing and administrative functions relating to safety at the plant.

Mr James L Wainscott chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel said that "Receiving OHSAS 18001:2007 certification speaks volumes about our commitment to occupational health and safety at AK Steel. We congratulate the men and women of Coshocton Works for earning this recognition, an achievement that reflects AK Steel's commitment to safety at all of our plant operations."

Mr A Joseph Falcsik Vice President, Certification of SRI said that "We are pleased to acknowledge that AK Steel has received OHSAS 18001:2007 certification. The certification provides evidence to customers, suppliers, employees and the community of AK Steel's commitment to a healthy and safe working environment."

According to SRI Quality System Registrar, OHSAS 18001:2007 certification recognizes companies that link business objectives with operating effectiveness. Recipients of this certification have demonstrated effective implementation of documentation and records management, top management's commitment to their employees, establishment of clear policy and practice, good planning and implementation, good resource management, efficient health and safety control, measurement, preventive action and an institutionalized process for continual improvement.
