Toyota Motor has partnered with Park24 to launch trial car sharing service using its ultra-compact three-wheeled electric vehicle, i-Road, in Tokyo from 10 April to end of September this year.
During the trial, the i-Road will be paired with Park24's 'Times Car Plus' service, which allows members to share cars.
The trial will include components from Toyota's 'Ha:mo' optimized urban transport system. It will focus on one-way transportation to commercial facilities and sightseeing locations.
Data collected from trials will be used to evaluate ease of use, changes in user activity patterns and receptivity to new mobility systems.
Times Car Plus corporate members and other individuals will be able to sign up for i-Road training courses.
Park24's Times Car Plus car sharing service is designed to serve the public mobility and offers rental of various automobiles, including compact and imported vehicles. The service has around 430,000 members.
Since October 2012, Toyota has been conducting trial operations of Ha:mo, which aims to alleviate traffic blocking, reduce air pollution and improve mobility. The system Ha:mo connects private and public transportation networks.
