- Tree of Life Canada, a marketer and distributor of grocery food products, has acquired Northbud Distributors, a leading food distribution and brokerage business in the country.
Northbud Distributors primary focuses on the distribution of refrigerated and frozen value-added meat, poultry and deli products and other grocery products.
This move is expected to boost Tree of Life's frozen and refrigerated capabilities for retail, as well as its food service products. In addition, the enhanced capabilities will complement current Tree of Life products of Premium Taste, Ethnic, Natural, Perishable and Food Service brands.
Tree of Life Canada's parent company KeHE Distributors noted that acquisition will complement is consistent with its growth strategy across North America.
Commenting on the acquisition, Tree of Life Canada president Jamie Moody said that the company is aimed at offering class leading category expertise in its specialty categories.
"The addition of the Northbud portfolio gives us greater presence in the perimeter of the store categories that continue to experience high growth," Moody added.
Northbud Distributors Sales & Marketing VP Peter Clarke said, "This is an opportunity for our vendor partners to reach more doors across Canada and to increase and strengthen our sales support throughout the country."
Clarke will be joining Tree of Life as the Vice President & General Manager, Northbud.
Northbud Distributors will be merged into the Tree of Life business over the next 12 months. All Northbud trade programs and terms will remain in place during this transition.
