Following on from more than a decade of collaboration, Red Hat on Tuesday announced that it has joined the HP Enterprise Services Technology Alliance programme.

HP Enterprises Services offers Red Hat products as part of its Standard Operating Platform for outsourcing clients. It also uses Red Hat JBoss Middleware technology and the firm’s Enterprise Linux as platforms for developing and deploying solutions, making the move a logical one, Red Hat said.

“Becoming a part of HP’s Enterprise Services Technology Alliance solidifies the work we’ve done together to design, build and deploy solutions in a range of industries, maximising flexibility while containing infrastructure costs,” said Alan Sanchez, Director of Global Strategic Alliances, Red Hat.

“These solutions present the best of both companies to our customers, and the end result is better business outcomes.”

Alliance partners are globally recognised companies that collaborate with HP to develop, implement and jointly market different services, Red Hat said. The alliances focus on specific technologies or domains.

HP Enterprise’s solutions that are built on Red Hat’s platform include the HP Service Orchestration Manager, the HP SDP Service Governance Framework and the HP Storefront and Mobility Gateway.

The firm’s Service Orchestration Manager is designed to create, orchestrate and monitor Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) services and agile applications, blending network, IT and Web 2.0 services with subscriber and application information.

The SDP Service Governance Framework, on the other hand, offers Application Programming Interface management for registration, authentication, authorisation and entitlement, as well as a “rich” SOA policy feature and service monetisation that supports IT and third-party application developers.

“Optimising IT performance requires strong solutions,” said Greg Robins, Vice President, Alliances, HP Enterprise Services. “Red Hat’s technology, combined with HP’s services, provides clients with solutions that enable the flexibility and agility today’s enterprises demand.”
