Biotage Has Launched an Updated Version of Its Isolera Spektra Software

Sweden-based analytical and medicinal chemistry company Biotage has launched an updated version of its Isolera Spektra software, which helps to separate and purify between one and six compounds in the sample or even target one specific compound of interest.

The new software uses TLC data from 2 to 10 different TLC and includes step gradient optimization feature that helps to estimate where the individual sample components will rinse, the percentage of strong solvent required and which cartridge is capable of purifying the amount of sample to be purified.

The firm said the new software can reduce purification costs by 60% or more over conventional, non-compound specific linear gradients.

The firm claims that the new patent-pending technology will help even most inexperienced chemists in purifying and separating compounds.

Biotage product manager Dr. Sunil Rana said the firm's launch of the Biotage Isolera Spektra in 2012 was an advancement in the flash purification.

"Moving 1-dimensional flash into 2D and 3D with a purification system capable of targeting specific compounds in complex mixtures, and even detecting the presence of normally invisible impurities beneath peaks of interest. It has and will continue to positively change the way we think about flash purification," Rana added.

"This latest update extends the step-gradient application range to include the new high capacity Biotage SNAP Ultra and Biotage ZIP Sphere cartridges."
