Food Equipment Manufacturer ABAR Automation Has Been Acquired by Hydratec Industries

Dutch firm Hydratec Industries, through its subsidiary LAN Handling Systems International, has acquired food equipment manufacturer ABAR Automation for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition is in line with Hydratec's strategy to grow its business in the agri and food sectors.

Based in Amsterdam, ABAR Automation manufactures end-of-line handling systems for major food processors with specialised robotic equipment to pick and pack meat and fresh produce.

It supplies individual machines such as Case Packers, Crate De-stackers and Bale Arm Folders or provide complete integrated automation solutions using its own equipment and working with other suppliers.

ABAR employs 40 people and generated €9m in sales during 2014. It is said to complement Lan's current activities.

ABAR Automation operations director Steve Rutherford said: "Our market is growing fast, and we are delighted to have found a strategic partner to take our business to the next level.

"We are looking forward to working with Lan Handling Systems to offer complementary solutions to our combined client base."

Besides agri & food equipment, Hydratec also produces plastic parts and packaging.
