US chlor-alkali plants operated at 84% of capacity in February, data released Tuesday by the Chlorine Institute showed.
The operating rate was down two percentage points from January.
The trade association said US chlor-alkali producers last month made 711,149 st of liquid chlorine, 872,718 st of chlorine gas and 925,628 st of liquid sodium hydroxide.
The monthly production corresponds to daily rates of 25,398 st/d of liquid chlorine, 31,169 st/d of chlorine gas and 33,058 st/d of sodium hydroxide, it added.
In February 2013, operating rates were also at 84%, while daily production rates were 24,407 st/d of liquid chlorine, 30,985 st/d of chlorine gas and 32,184 st/d of sodium hydroxide, the group's data showed.
Companies reporting monthly data to the Chlorine Institute account for 93% of US capacity.
