Samsung will become the largest foreign corporate investor in the history of Texas when it spends the$4bn on its Austin fab which it announced today.
The$4bn will bring to$13bn the amount invested by Samsung in Ausatin.
Samsung intends the$4bn to be used for expanding applications processor output.As the main maker of apps processors for Apple,and as the world's largest user of apps processors in its own mobile phone business,Samsung has a huge internal and external demand for the chips.
Apple is Samsung's largest semiconductor company accounting for nearly 9%of Samsung's semiconductor revenues.
Samsung's 2012 semiconductor capex budget is$13bn.
