Biscuits Bouvard Acquires Belgian Pastry Maker Pidy

French-based private label biscuit maker Biscuits Bouvard has acquired Belgian pastry manufacturer Pidy for undisclosed sum.

Pidy, which specializes in manufacturing ready-to-fill sweet and savoury products, has production facilities in Belgium, France and the US.

The acquisition will enable Pidy’s CEO Thierry Dehaeck to step back from the daily operations of the company.

However, Dehaeck will advise the company on a consultancy basis during the initial months of the acquisition, FoodBev Media reported.

Pidy UK’s general manager Robert Whittle was quoted by the publication as saying: ““Being part of a larger family owned group brings the UK business a huge wealth of potential.

“Plans for the future roll-out of private-label biscuits bring just one significant development to our expansion plans but moreover it has been made clear, from the plans presented by the Bouvard management, that they see pastry innovation as the key to continued growth in the Pidy range with investment plans in NPD, plant and machinery having already begun in earnest.”

Pidy has sales offices the Benelux, France, UK, US and export markets and they provide services and market support to customers in over 50 countries.

Biscuits Bouvard is a major player in private-label biscuit sector in Europe, with 1,200 employees and seven manufacturing plants.

Pidy’s presence in the UK and the US is expected to boost the two companies’ combined interest in the   American market.

Whittle added: “We would like to reassure our customers that there will be no changes in business names or personnel in this deal. Pidy UK’s 40% growth over the last three years is set to continue in the pastry side of the business and it is very much business as normal.”
