Telstra has begun offering business customers GPS tracking and management for fleets across Australia.

Telstra has teamed with fleet management provider Securatrak to provide  in-vehicle monitoring and GPS tracking designed to suit businesses across a range of industries, from mining to engineering, transport, local councils and vehicle rental companies.

Business customers can sign up for fleet management packages that use Securatrak’s GO6 GPS tracking solution with Telstra’s Mobile Network, claimed to be the largest mobile network in Australia.

Director of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Partnerships at Telstra Mike Cihra said the partnership with Securatrak would see Telstra be able to offer customers comprehensive GPS tracking and management solutions for fleets of any size and location.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone in our journey aimed at bringing M2M solutions closer to Australian businesses, with simple and affordable implementation,” said Mr Cihra.

“The GO6 tracking device and Checkmate reporting software allows business to monitor and manage each vehicle and driver in their fleet. Driver ID is available for businesses with pooled fleets and the system allows fleet managers to deliver improvements in a number of areas including fuel efficiency and worker safety,” he said.

Securatrak managing director Mark Holmes said the complimentary partnership was an acknowledgment of the growing industry demand for GPS tracking solutions, and the product quality, support, functionality and price point the company could deliver.

“Fleet telematics was once a niche market but it has become an increasingly important technology for companies looking for better ways to monitor their fleet performance and wishing to ensure safety of their drivers – especially those who operate in isolation or in remote areas,” Mr Holmes said.
