French car maker Renault has signed an agreement with the Tan Chong Euro cars to build its luxury sedan Fluence in Malaysia.
The deal will not only allow the carmaker to strengthen its presence in the region but also expand its brand across the growing markets of whole of South-East Asia.
The move is said to be the company's first step to increase its pace of growth in Malaysia, while it aims to have 25 dealers in the region by 2016.
Renault group Asia-Pacific Region chairman Gilles Normand said the company is delighted to be strengthening its partnership with Tan Chong Motors.
"This agreement marks the start of a new stage in the development of Renault in Malaysia where our ambition is to establish Renault as the within the top 3 of generalist European car makers by 2018," Normand added.
Renault also plans to introduce its other vehicle models in Malaysia to meet the core requirements of the local market.
