Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors (MMC) has launched the new eK Wagon and eK Custom tall wagon minicar models in Japan.
The vehicles are claimed to be the first ones planned and developed by NMKV, a joint venture established by MMC and Nissan.
Available in the two wheel drive (2WD) and the four wheel drive (4WD) variants the vehicles are powered by a 0.7L three-cylinder engine that generates an output of 49hp (36kW) and 59Nm (43lbft) of torque, while the turbocharged variant delivers an output of 47kW and 98Nm of torque.
The vehicle comes with the Auto Stop & Go (ASG) idle-stop system technology, which turns off the engine when the vehicle speed drops below about 13km/h while decelerating in order to reduce the fuel consumption.
According to the company, the vehicles' 2WD models achieve fuel efficiency of 29.2km/liter, while the 4WD versions of the vehicles offer fuel economy of 26km/L with ASG and 25.8km/L without ASG.
The 2WD eK Custom T turbocharged model is climed to provide fuel economy of 23.4km/L, while the 4WD version is claimed to consume 22.6km/L fuel.
