On 26th February 2013, Savio Machine Tessili S.p.A. has become the controlling shareholder of the company Mesdan S.p.A., with the support of the private equity fund Alpha (major shareholder of Savio Group).
With this acquisition, worth more than € 20 million, Savio aggregates in its group a company leader in the field of devices for yarn joining and testing instruments for textile laboratories.
With a 2011 turnover of € 460 million and 1469 employees worldwide, Savio Group, founded in 1911 and based in Pordenone, is today the leader in the field of textile machinery for yarn finishing and control systems for the yarn quality with companies and plants in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, United States, China and India.
This acquisition represents a further step in the path of development of a group focused on high technology and excellent solutions for the textile industry. With a 2011 turnover close to € 40 million and 84 employees, Mesdan Spa, founded in 1952 with headquarters in Raffa di Puegnago (BS) - Italy, has reached a leading position in the production of yarn splicing devices thanks to the development and ownership of several patents in the field of air and water joint technology.
Mesdan has also diversified its activities through the business of textile laboratory instruments to meet the increasing demands of the textile market towards the Quality control of fibers, yarns and fabrics.
Mesdan, with a direct presence in China through a joint venture and with a subsidiary in India, will retain all of its autonomy in the markets and with its customers, in line with Savio Group's philosophy.
