Nissan Adds Ten New Mobility Concept Vehicles to Scoot's Fleet

Nissan has announced the addition of ten all-electric new mobility concept vehicles to the Scoot Networks' mobility service.

Also called a Scoot Quad, the Nissan New Mobility Concept is a 100% electric, two-seater compact vehicle with a range of 40 miles and 25 mph speed.

Nissan Future Lab executive director Rachel Nguyen said: "As large cities continue to grow into megacities globally, we need to understand how transportation is changing and look ahead to anticipate what transportation needs will look like in the future.

"Scoot Networks is an ideal partner in this research project because they are fulfilling a need that has emerged in the San Francisco market, and they share a similar commitment to zero-emissions mobility."

The Scoot's first foray on four wheels, Scoot Quad joins the Scoot family of light electric vehicles including an electric moped and a larger cargo outfit.

According to Nissan, the Scoot fleet currently consists of 400 customized electric scooters that go up to 30 mph and have a range of 20 to 25 miles.

Scoot Networks founder and CEO Michael Keating said: "If it's small, electric and fun, you will be able to find it in the Scoot app and ride it all over the city."

Nissan has sold over 192,000 Nissan LEAF vehicles globally and about 86,000 in the US.

The start-up electric transportation company Scoot Networks was launched in 2012 and offers one-way, zero-emission rides.
