Penford Food Ingredients has launched PenDure CW, a non-GMO white corn protein, designed to cater to the increasing demand for protein-enriched foods.
Claimed to contain a minimum of 50% protein, the non-allergenic and Kosher-certified product enriches low-moisture foods and offers functional benefits, including protein enrichment, non-GMO, clean label, no preservatives and texturizer.
The company's white corn product portfolio includes PenFibe CW and PenGerm CW.
All three ingredients can be used in baked goods, breakfast cereals, breakfast and nutrition bars, gluten-free food products and snacks and tortillas.
Penford Food Ingredients president John Randall said that the food industry is seeing an increased demand for high-protein foods for a variety of reasons like health and satiety.
"The expansion of our white corn product offering gives our customers different solutions to meet the growing demand for nutritionally rich options," Randall added.
Penford Food Ingredients is a division of Penford, which is a global supplier of food and industrial starches. The company also develops formulations for coatings, gluten-free products, marinades, batters for protein substrates and starch-based pet treats and toys.
