Denso Has Unveiled Its New Diesel Common Rail Fuel Injection System

Japan-based automotive products manufacturer, Denso has unveiled its new diesel common rail (DCR) fuel injection system.

The new system is claimed to offer the world's highest injection pressure of 2,500 bar, while increasing the fuel efficiency of the vehicles by about 3%.

DCR will also decrease the particulate matter (PM) by about 50% and the nitrogen oxides (NOx) by about 8% compared to the manufacturer's older generation fuel injection system.

According to the company, it was able to reduce the workload of the fuel pump by improving the design structure of the injector, fuel pump, and common rail as well as decreased the fuel sent back to the fuel tank by about 90% in order to cut the workload.

The DCR uses new components and materials to atomize the fuel into finer droplets, which improve the fuel ignition and combustion efficiency leading to increased fuel economy and cleaner exhaust emissions.

DCR is scheduled to be launched in the late 2013 and will be used in passenger, commercial, agricultural and construction vehicles across the globe.
