Cargill Resumed Operations at Its Hog Slaughtering Plant in Beardstown, Illinois

Cargill has resumed operations at its hog slaughtering plant in Beardstown, Illinois.

This plant processes 19,500 hogs a day.

The plant slaughter operations were suspended on 23 January 2015 due to equipment failure, reports Reuters.

Cargill spokesman, Michael Martin was quoted by Reuters as saying: "There was an equipment failure with a sprocket gear that allows the line to move."

He also said that the lost time will be made up on the next day.

As the processing section of the plant was not impacted, none of the customer orders have been affected, the company said.
