Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors has recalled 1,402 electric vehicles in the US due to problem in the brake.
The recall is part 14,700 Mitsubishi i-MiEV vehicles recalled in Japan, while the recalled vehicles were manufactured during 2 December 2011 to 7 September 2012.
Installation of improperly shaped or defective electric pump that provides air to the brake booster has initiated the recall, which is reported to hinder the forces applied from the foot for braking resulting in a longer run of the vehicle before it comes to complete stop.
The company claimed that the brake warning lamp will illuminate and an audible warning will alert the vehicle operator if the vacuum pump becomes inoperable.
In August 2012, the automaker had recalled about 261 units of the i-MiEV electric vehicles in the US and Canada over a safety software issue leading to malfunctioning of airbags.
