SAP Mobility Design Centre Goes Global

SAP on Thursday announced that its Mobility Design Centre had gone global, following increasing demand from custom-built mobile apps that provide consumer-grade experiences.

The announcement was made at the CeBit trade show in Hanover, Germany.

The Mobility Design Centre originated at the SAP campus in California, but operations will now be extended to corporate headquarters in Germany, as well as company offices in Canada and India, helping to leverage SAP talent worldwide.

The centre has helped customers such as ExxonMobil to keep up with the consumerisation of IT trends since it opened last September, SAP said.

It has done this by conceptualising, designing and building mobile solutions, enabling customers to connect with employees and engage with customers. The idea is to base the solutions on end-user satisfaction, SAP said.

SAP added that, with the design centre now going global, companies that do not have the time, budget or infrastructure to create their own mobile solutions can now turn to SAP for help.

“Companies want to increase workforce productivity by enabling them to make fast decisions at the point of action and bring value to their consumers by offering a delightful and engaging user experience,” said Sanjay Poonen, President, Mobile Division, SAP.

“The SAP Mobility Design Centre fulfills a growing demand for custom-made mobile solutions and offers a smart and easy way for customers to unwire their business. Design thinking principles and innovative user experience techniques provide the end user with solutions that are intuitive to use, while our development methodologies help ensure full integration with the back-end environments.”

Most apps designed at the centre are built on the SAP Mobile Platform.
