Mahindra Launches Small Electric Car E20 ElectriCity Car in UK

Indian automaker and farm-equipment manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its electric car e20 in UK.

It was reported last month that it would be a no-frills, basic electric car intended for young teens and budget-conscious families.

The electric car comes in two variants, e20 City and e20 TechX and they are priced at £12,995 and £15,995 respectively. Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra launched these electric cars in London's Design Museum.

These two cars have been designed to be compact city cars for four adults. The safety features in the car include dual SRS airbags, anti-lock breaking system, electronic stability control, regenerative braking system, among others.

e20 comes with a number of features including connected features that make it easier and fun to drive car.

The car can be connected to driver's smartphone through which he or she can easily start or stop charging, pre-heat or pre-cool the vehicle, can route plan in advance and check for charging stations nearby.

Through this app, the driver can schedule the car to be charged at times when electricity charges are lowest during the day.

Mahindra e20 is also fitted with an onboard self-diagnostics system that will monitor the car's condition and send the data to Mahindra's data centre and provide alerts to drivers as well.

The e20 TechX model is equipped with a touchscreen display which can provide satellite navigation with 'range remaining' and nearby charging locations.

Speaking about the e2o's arrival on British roads, Mahindra Group chairman, Anand Mahindra said: "I am very proud to announce that the e2o is now available in the UK and this marks a true milestone for the Mahindra Group.

"I invite people to come and test drive the Mahindra e2o 'ElectriCity Car' and help drive a positive change to the air quality in their cities.

"Sustainability is at the heart of Mahindra's business practices and with the introduction of the e2o to the UK market, we are offering a product that perfectly encapsulates our corporate philosophy."
