Vietnam Meat Industries (Vissan) has opened a new food processing plant in Tien Son Industrial Zone in the northern province of Bac Ninh.
The move is in line with the company's strategy to improve food supply capacity in Vietnam and in the northern market in particular during the period between 2015-2020.
The VND70bn ($3.2m) plant houses a cold storage system to store materials and end-products, production area, as well as production infrastructure and facilities, Sai Gon Giai Phong reported.
When operational, the facility will be capable of producing close to 20,000 tons of processed food annually.
Commenting on the facility, Vissan CEO Van Duc Muoi said that the plant will allow the company to supply products to rural and remote areas in reduced time, carry out production planning for timely supply to distributors and regional retail network.
Vissan produces, processes, and markets fresh frozen and processed meat products. The company offers pork, beef, ham, chicken/poultry, sausage sterilized, traditional sausage, canned food, and other products.
It offers its products through own showrooms, supermarkets, and convenience stores in Vietnam, as well as exports through distributors/direct channels internationally.
