Neovia Vietnam launches a new pig production chain called “Le porc du Mékong”, in partnership with the Grimaud and Le Boucher Groups.
The creation of a pig production chain in Vietnam, in partnership with the various market participants, aims to ensure sustainable growth of the industry on a booming market. Food safety and traceability, support for the reasoned development of pork production and synergies in expertise are at the heart of the challenges of this new “Le porc du Mékong” pig production chain.
Vietnam, the world’s seventh pork producer
With an average consumption of 26 kilogrammes per capita per year, the pork production market in Vietnam has experienced continuous growth for several years.
Today, Vietnam ranks seventh among world pork producers and the creation of the “Le porc du Mékong” pig production chain aims to sustainably support this development by improving the competitiveness of member farms through technological and genetic advances and the recognised international expertise of its founders.
The competitiveness of Vietnamese farms is now a major issue for Vietnamese farmers as a result of increased international trade. Discussions on the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) are effectively under-way, resulting in increased competition from NAFTA countries*. Vietnam is also negotiating a free trade agreement with the European Union.
A new industry conducive to the creation of synergies for all of its stakeholders
Neovia Vietnam, the Grimaud Group, which is a genetics expert, and Le Boucher, which specialises in processing, decided to work together to create an “integrated chain” called “Le porc du Mékong” which aims to provide innovative, effective, and sustainable solutions to Vietnamese farmers to help them improve the competitiveness of farms, promote food safety and traceability, and ensure the quality of production.
Within the “Le porc du Mékong” pig production chain, Neovia Vietnam offers feed adapted to each physiological stage in the growth of the animal and ensures the security and control of the raw materials used. Moreover, Neovia will endeavour to provide technical support and nutritional advice to all member livestock farmers through its global network of species experts and its recognised cross-cutting skills.
Vietnamese livestock farmers, represented by the Vietnam Livestock Association, are involved as members of the “Le PORC du Mékong” pig production chain. In addition, this project is supported by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture which promises a bright future for this new pig production chain.
