TfL to Trial Hybrid Buses in East London

Transport for London (TfL) is about to trial hybrid buses in east London that will be capable of charging wirelessly at the bus stop.

The buses will feature diesel-electric hybrid engine and built-in inductive charging which is capable of charging through the inductive charging technology at the bus stop.

Previously the town of Milton Keynes introduced fleet of eight wirelessly charged electric buses, and TFL also launched buses with free Wi-Fi previously.

TfL director of buses Mike Weston said: "This trial of extended range diesel electric hybrid buses, utilising the latest inductive charging technology, could be a step closer to getting even cleaner double deck buses on London's streets."

" We will be closely monitoring the results of the trials, which may help us adopt this new cleaner technology more widely in London."
