Reportedly, Mexican steelmaker ArcelorMittal Lázaro Cárdenas (AMLC) has announced to start its special steel slabs production.
The product would be applied for top quality to produce pipelines to transport sour gas which allowed a natural gas containing significant quantities of toxic gases such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S), carbon dioxide (CO2) respectively.
However, the steel slab has requested stringent technical specifications including a high resistance against hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC) in order to meet the application.
The company will also be able to produce defect-free slabs with a reduced center segregation rate and the reason is to increase its share of the growing market for API pipes.
