Automotive supplier Webasto Group has opened a new $8.7m manufacturing plant at its Chongqing location in China for the production of panorama roofs and sunroofs for automotive industry.
Located in a 16,000m2 of area, the new plant is expected to produce 700,000 roofs annually by 2016.
Besides this, the company expects to open two additional plants in Wuhan and Shenyang by 2014, which expands its sunroof plants in China to ten.
Webasto management board chairman Holger Engelmann said: "With our new plant in Chongqing, we are consolidating our position as the global market leader for panorama roofs and sunroofs."
Webasto produces a wide variety of sunroofs and panorama roofs for customers in Asia, Europe and the US. It operates its business more than 50 locations including 30 production sites in the divisions roof and thermo systems globally.
