Volvo Car has awarded a contract to CGI to provide authentication certificate services for each of its cars.
CGI will offer each car with securely accessed online services for Volvo Cars as well as related operation and support services.
A certificate solution developed by CGI and Volvo provides secure online connections in Volvo cars using the same security technology used for Internet-based applications.
Each certificate will be installed during the car manufacturing to ensure reliability and integration with Volvo's systems and cloud environment.
CGI Sweden senior vice-president Pr Fors said: "This is only the beginning of exciting developments in car apps, and there are great opportunities for expanded capabilities and services in the future."
CGI certificate service comprises all certificate-related components, including mobile devices, automatic installations and administrative tools.
The service is said to comply with international standards, and offer comprehensive lifecycle management for certificates stored in smart cards.
