Ardent Mills is recalling several brands of flour and flour products in Canada because of possible E. coli O121 contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has asked the flour-milling company to recall the products partly made by using 11 loads of Canadian wheat which were common to the previously recalled flour and flour products earlier in the month.
The recalled brands included Creative Baker, Brodie, Golden Temple, Purity and Robin Hood.
CFIA stated: “This recall was triggered by findings by the CFIA during its investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
“If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.
The Canadian food watchdog added that it is verifying that the recalled products are removed from the marketplace.
Ardent Mills on its part stated that the recall was done as a matter of extreme caution. It said that there were no positive traces of the bacteria found in the products nor were there any reports of illness following the consumption of the newly recalled products.
Ardent Mills Research, Quality, and Technical Services vice president Kent Juliot said: "Consumer food safety is of paramount importance to Ardent Mills, and our mills adhere to stringent and mandated food safety protocols to ensure pathogenic bacteria are not introduced during the milling process at any of our operations.”
Operating across the US and Canada, Ardent Mills is a joint venture that was formed in 2014 between ConAgra Mills and Horizon Milling which in turn is a Cargill-CHS joint venture.
