French tire firm Michelin has made available its Premier LTX tire with EverGrip technology for light trucks, SUVs and crossovers at more than 10,000 authorized dealer locations in North America.
The tires, available in 47 sizes from 16-inch to 22-inch diameter rim sizes, claim to provide exceptional levels of safety even in worn down conditions, stopping shorter on wet roads.
Michelin North America - passenger and light truck tire division chief operating officer Scott Clark said: "The availability of the Michelin Premier LTX with EverGrip gives light truck and SUV drivers a new choice in safety for their automobiles."
The Michelin Premier tires have a combination of hidden grooves that emerge as the tire wears, leading to an expansion of rain grooves that widen over time. This continues to evacuate water and the rubber compound provides an improved wet grip.
This has been claimed to enhance safety and performance for vehicle owners over a range of weather conditions.
In the beginning of 2015, the Premier LTX was accorded as the original equipment tire of the 2016 Lexus RX at the New York International Auto Show.
The tire, launched at the 2014 Detroit International Auto Show, also got the recognition of being one of the Top 100 innovations of 2014 by Popular Science magazine as in its annual 'Best of What's New' list.
