Chinese car-maker Qoros has signed its first European importer agreement in Bratislava, Slovakia, as part of its plan to develop a full-scale European distribution operation.

The company signed the agreement with Dutch distributor, Autobinck, which will run the key parts of the distribution operation.

The sales and service operations will be based at Autobinck's multi-brand site in Bratislava.

Qoros 3 Sedan will be the first to be sold in the Slovakian market with Elegance as the first variant to be available. Elegance model features a Euro 5-compliant 115 kW turbocharged 1.6l gasoline engine.

Qoros Europe and Middle East sales & marketing director Cristiano Carlutti said that this is a very interesting period for Qoros and although sales volume is not the company's primary objective, Slovakia is one of the prime markets in Europe for sedans.

"Our learnings in Slovakia will be very useful once we start to increase our presence in Central and Western Europe and when more models become available, as well as a new generation of highly efficient engines."

The Qoros 3 Sedan, which is produced in a new assembly plant in Changshu, China, is the first of an all-new range of models being designed and engineered by an international team of experienced specialist and young automotive talent, the company said.

The company is planning to introduce its Qoros 3 Sedan range in around 80 sales outlets in China in the last quarter 2013.
