The products associated with the recall include 12oz Cuajada Fresca and Cuajada Olanchana.

Both the recalled products bear the same UPC code on the label of the plastic bag 896211002380 with Best Used by Date of 1 July 2014 through 31 December 2014.

The recall comes in response to product sampling and environmental results at the manufacturing company which revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria.

The manufacturing company has ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA and the manufacturing company continues their investigation as to what caused the problem.

FDA is also investigating illnesses associated with the consumption of the recalled products.

Consumption of food contaminated with listeria may cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

Customers who have bought the recalled products are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
