India-based automaker Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is set to establish a new development center in the UK, as a part of its international expansion.
This move of the automaker to establish the new engineering and design centre in the UK is to enter into the European market and increase its technological clout.
The company will develop fuel-efficient engines and emerging fuel technologies at this new development center.
Mahindra & Mahindra president Pawan Goenka was quoted by the Financial Times as saying: "We need to expand our R & D network beyond India now, given the size of the company and the kind of products we are working on."
The Indian automaker has reported 500,000 vehicles sold in 2012, mainly SUVs in India. It also acquired South Korean SUV manufacturer Ssangyong Motor for $466m in 2011.
