Chevrolet Will Be Showcasing Products and Technologies

Chevrolet Sales Thailand’s (Chevrolet) booth at the 30th Thailand International Motor Expo will be showcasing products and technologies that underline the automaker’s constantly evolving products, passion and ingenuity.

Leading the show will be the much-anticipated launch of one of Chevrolet's iconic midsize Colorado pickup truck which now comes with a more powerful Duramax turbo-diesel engine and other enhancements.

In addition to this, the new Chevrolet Trailblazer will also makes its debut at this years Motor Expo. The Trailblazer now comes with the new Duramax engine along with new features like a reversing camera and MyLink Infotainment system.

Also taking to the stage is the Chevrolet SS Concept, Chevrolet's first four-door V8 muscle car since 1996., Chevrolet is using the Motor Expo to evaluate response to its latest muscle car. Visitors to Chevrolet's booth will also have hands-on opportunities to learn what MyLink is all about.

Speaking about Chevrolet's presence at the Thailand International Motor Expo 2013, Mr. Gustavo Colossi, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, Chevrolet Sales Thailand and General Motors SEA Operations said, "At Chevrolet, we continue to evolve and change. We continue to make good things better such as the new Duramax engine, which now powers the new Colorado and Trailblazer. We also inject a lot of passion into our products. Look no further than the Chevrolet SS Concept in front of you."

New Chevrolet Colorado

The new, 2014 Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup truck comes with a several new features like the new Duramax diesel engine, the MyLink infotainment system, a new six-speed manual transmission and a new body color, 'Orange Rock' is also available now.

GM's new Duramax diesel-turbo powertrain is built stronger to handle the increased outputs. The 2.8L variant now produces 200 hp (147 kW) of power at 3600 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm, making the Colorado one of the most powerful in its class. Equivalent to 178 Nm-per-liter, the new engine will improve the Colorado's acceleration and linear performance, and enhance the vehicle's towing and payload capacity. The 2.5L variant now produces 163 hp (120 kW) at 3600 rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm.

Both variants of the Colorado will come with new six-speed manual transmissions with retuned ratios to take advantage of the new Duramax's characteristics, for the best combination of performance and economy. Inside, the truck features an enhanced Display Information Cluster (DIC) with additional displays that encourages the driver to be more fuel conscious and monitor their driving habits.

Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment system is a part of the automaker's continued efforts to make driving more enjoyable. The LTZ1 version of the Colorado will also come with Satellite Navigation system. MyLink offers new levels of convenience and flexibility by bringing smartphone capabilities into the vehicle. It aggregates content from the smartphone onto the seven-inch, high resolution, full-color touch-screen display. MyLink is capable of displaying album art, videos, pictures and DVD playback. Users can access personal playlists and make hands-free voice calls, amongst other functions.

Chevrolet SS Concept

On display at the 30th Thailand International Motor Expo is the stunning Chevrolet SS Concept. It is Chevrolet's first V8, rear-wheel-drive performance sedan since 1996 and is designed to deliver performance on the street and on the track. The Chevrolet SS Concept is based on the new VF Commodore and manufactured at GM Holden's plant in Elizabeth, South Australia.

The SS Concept has a mature, aerodynamic exterior design, which has been finished in eye-catching custom Fantale orange metallic paint specially created by Chevrolet for the show car. It's muscular design is enhanced with a bespoke paint job and well contrasted against glossy black multi-spoke wheels.

Under spotlights, the show car's glowing finish emphasises the more sculpted, layered surfacing and bolder graphics that give the Chevrolet SS a powerfully different sports design character and complement its classic rear drive performance car proportion. The gloss black paint on the hand-machined double five-spoke wheels is a custom finish, while the cool gunmetal chrome detailing on the front fascia and the vertical fender add a touch of luxury.

The Chevrolet SS Concept is based on the proven, race-tested, global rear-wheel drive platform of the Camaro and is powered by a Generation IV 90-degree 6.0L all-alloy OHV (Overhead Valve) V8. The engine produces 362 hp (279 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 530 Nm at 4,400 rpm. It also features cross-flow cylinder heads, twin knock sensors and on-board diagnostics.

A sport-tuned chassis, featuring MacPherson struts at the front and multilink independent suspension at the rear, ensures the SS corners well. Handling is also helped by a near 50/50 weight distribution, and a low center of gravity. Brembo brakes provide the SSV with stopping power.

New Chevrolet Trailblazer

The new Trailblazer SUV, now comes with a new and more powerful Duramax engines in addition to other improvements. Apart from a new powertrain, the new Trailblazer will also be equipped with Chevrolet's MyLink in-car infotainment system. These improvements further underline the Trailblazer's 'Go Anywhere' concept and raises the bar for SUV's in the market.

The new Duramax engine has been made stronger to handle the increased outputs, and certain elements have been redesigned to enhance durability and further improve overall quality. Instead of increasing capacity to enhance performance, GM powertrain engineers focused on improving efficiency and performance within the same capacities.

All versions of the Trailblazer will now get the MyLink infortainment syste, while the top-of-the-range Trailblazer LTZ1 is equipped with Chevrolet's latest generation MyLink infotainment system. It features nine speakers, a 6.5-inch touch-screen and built-in satellite navigation. The system is capable of displaying album art, videos, pictures and DVD playback. Since the LTZ1 is also equipped with a reverse camera, the 6.5-inch screen also doubles as the display when the reverse camera is in use.
