Canada-An enduring relationship has been renewed, with SGM and its Canadian distributor SF Marketing signing a new contract which will see the Montreal-based company represent SGM's next generation of LED fixtures under the name'SGM Canada'.
This will give the company much greater responsibility. But what makes the move significant is that SGM had been the first professional lighting brand that SF Marketing-originally established back in 1978-brought into its portfolio almost a decade ago.
There is also an irony in that 20 years ago SGM's chief executive Peter Johansen came close to signing up his company at the time with SF Marketing president,Sol Fleising. How that decision might have impacted on the respective companies'fortunes we will never know-but two decades later the two industry giants are determined to grasp the opportunity this time around.
Equally optimistic about the new era dawning under Peter Johansen, since he took over the company, are SFM's chief operating officer,Randal Tucker and senior lighting product manager,Jimmy Katsipis.
"We're receiving great response from customers to the new LED-based products being introduced by SGM,"confirmed Randal."Being a leader in this industry means being able to boldly go where the competition isn't,and with their uniquely engineered LED products this is what we're seeing from SGM under Peter."
Jimmy Katsipis added,"We've been putting the vast majority of our focus on LED and firmly believe that LED represents the future."
With the news of Peter Johansen's involvement in the company last year SF Marketing had been anxious to establish its position within SGM's brave new business model after the Dane had bought out the business from the RCF Group."As the original founder of Martin Professional,he is one of the giants of the industry,"exclaimed SFM's COO,"and we couldn't have been more excited by the news that he had taken ownership of SGM."
Peter Johansen responded,"We had an extremely constructive meeting at Frankfurt, which confirmed SFM's belief in the new culture of SGM.We are delighted that the relationship has been put onto an even more dynamic platform."
SGM area manager Antonio Parise, who has looked after the Canada market for many years, added his endorsement, stating,"I am delighted that our long and successful relationship with SFM will be continuing."
The final word comes from Randal Tucker."We firmly believe that all the elements are in place for SGM to take the market by storm, and as SGM Canada we're excited to have the opportunity to play our part in making this happen."
Meanwhile SF Marketing wasted no time in introducing the new SGM portfolio at En Coulisse,a major regional trade show for the professional lighting and sound industry.
