Taipei,Sept.17,2012(CENS)--China Construction Bank(CCB),second-largest bank globally in 2011 by market capitalization,may soon be the third Chinese bank to run branch in Taiwan after two other Chinese banks--Bank of China and Bank of Communications.
The CCB representative office in Taipei has been in operation for one year as of April this year and may upgrade to branch so long as violations have not been recorded within the year,it is a top 200's bank in terms of assets,and has been operational in any OECD(Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development)country for more than five years.
CCB has reportedly applied to Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission(FSC)to upgrade to branch.
Four Chinese banks have established footholds in Taiwan including China Merchants Bank.As of March of this year the rep office of China Merchants in Taiwan has been operational for one year,but is still not qualified to upgrade to branch yet due to not meeting the five-year OECD nation criteria.
