HMC Farms, a US-based grower-shipper-packer of tree fruit and table grapes, is planning to install a 2.2MW solar system at its cold storage and packaging operations.
Developed by Cenergy Power, the proposed solar power system will be spread over an area of about 390,000ft2. This solar facility will allow HMC to lower increasing electric utility charges at its operations.
In addition, a 70KW solar carport will be installed at the main office building on the property, the company said.
These solar power installations are anticipated to generate 3.4 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity per year.
Commenting on the development, HMC Farms chief operating officer Michael Toms said, "According to data from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the clean energy generated by our solar farm will be equivalent to the carbon sequestered by 2,000 acres of forests annually."
According to the company, Cenergy will also provide scheduled operations and maintenance work, including but not limited to touch-free panel cleanings, preventative maintenance & repair, and overall system warranties.
