American automaker Ford Motor is planning to recall about 1.4 million vehicles in North America due to issues such as air bag malfunction and improper door handles.
The company is recalling about 692,500 Escape and C-Max models, including 591,000 in the US, about 78,000 in Canada and 19,700 in Mexico due to the air bag issue.
It is recalling 692,700 Escapes including about 580,000 units in the US, 89,500 in Canada and 20,000 in Mexico due to door handle defect.
According to the manufacturer, as a result of the computer software issue, there could be a delay in the canopy's deployment in certain rollover circumstances, potentially increasing the risk of injury.
The door handles in vehicles could malfunction and fail to latch properly resulting in the opening of doors when the vehicle is in motion.
Ford has claimed to be unaware of any accidents or injuries linked to the defects.
