Infiniti will showcase its QX50 crossover and QX80 SUV at the upcoming 2018 Houston Auto Show to be held between January 24 and 28.
The 2019 QX50 debuted at the Los Angeles International Auto Show features the first production-ready variable compression ratio engine, dubbed the INFINITI VC-Turbo.
The 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine adjusts its compression ratio optimizing power and efficiency. It integrates the power of a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with the torque and efficiency of a four-cylinder diesel engine.
The QX50 also features new ProPILOT Assist technologies that support the driver by taking one more onerous driving tasks and making the drive enjoyable and comfortable. This model is expected to go on sale later this year.
The second model to be showcased is the 2018 QX80. The SUV made its debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show last November.
The SUV is powered by a 5.6liter Double Over Head Cam (DOHC) V8 engine with direct injection gasoline and Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) technology. The vehicle comes in 2WD and 4WD versions. The 4WD model features computer controlled transfer case and three settings of Auto, 4H and 4L.
The vehicle is also equipped with advanced driver assistance technologies including backup collision intervention, blind spot warning, intelligent cruise control (full-speed range), distance control assist, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, predictive forward collision warning, blind spot intervention, lane departure warning and lane departure prevention.
Last year at the Dubai International Motor Show, Infiniti global division vice president Christian Meunier said: "The INFINITI QX80 has been a popular choice for buyers in the luxury SUV segment, particularly in North America and the Middle East.
"The new QX80 will boost INFINITI's presence in the full-size SUV segment by evoking the spirit of inclusive luxury travel. Customers expect maximum comfort, practicality and style – and the 2018 QX80 delivers."
