ILVA Has Asked for 1,428 Workers to Be Placed on Welfare Until January 31

AGI reported that ILVA has asked for 1,428 workers to be placed on welfare until January 31 due to the effects of decisions made by investigating magistrate Patrizia Todisco to seize finished and semi finished products worth about one billion euro.

Trade union representatives specified that this exceptional request could be shorter than expected since, following an amendment presented by the government, the law on ILVA would allow the company to sell finished and semi finished products currently seized by the judicial authorities.

ILVA had already requested unemployment benefits for about 2,000 workers in the steel plant for 13 weeks as of November 19, due to the economic crisis affecting markets.
