Release a explosion-proof and corrosion resistant LED lights

The endless potential of LED development has been highlighted once again by Larson Electronics as it releases an explosion-proof and corrosion-resistant LED light.

With a high-output lamp and a corrosion-resistant housing, the light is perfect for applications where it would be necessary for the fitting itself to be resistant to certain destructive environments. The sorts of projects for which such a light could be used are those in which the fitting would be exposed to, for example, marine environments, high humidity, salt water or damaging chemicals.

In order to achieve its impressive resistive qualities, the casing of the light is made from GE Lexan polycarbonate so it can combat not only the effects of the environment but also those of high temperatures.

Appropriately named the HALSB-CRNM-LED hazardous area LED beacon light, it is rated NEMA 4X against water intrusion meaning that the light is suitable for installation in wet locations, as well as being USCG-approved for use at marine sites.

As with other more conventional LED fittings, the HALSB-CRNM beacon boasts notable longevity with a life of 50,000 hours, a high output level and also comes in a range of colours depending on the necessary function, including - but not limited to - white, amber and red.

In addition to all of this, the light can be operated with standard voltages or configured to be used with lower voltages should the need arise.

While Larson already presents a range of fittings which boast similar features, Rob Bresnahan from the company has said that this new release offers the same amount of light for half of the cost of its previous contributions to the market.

These lights are useful for a whole range of commercial functions - however, their necessary use in a domestic situation is rather more limited. Nevertheless, on a slightly less extraordinary scale, this development only proves how easy it is for LED fittings to be waterproofed and made resistant to the elements, which is what makes them perfect for outdoor lights or garden lighting.
